Birds, like many animals, are vital components to our ecosystem. They conduct multiple tasks that affect our lives without general realization from the public. Such roles include forest preservation, aid in agricultural development as well as cleansing the environment of dangerous pests.

Through the lens of visual communication, Lisi’s series of projects isolate three Neotropical birds that specifically address these tasks, to raise awareness about the importance of preserving wildlife. The Bay-Breasted Warbler is one of many birds that eat the insects that would destroy and rot the bark of Timber Stands and other trees. The Clark’s Nutcracker Crow is the only bird that distributes the seeds for the Whitebark Pine trees occupying 14.3 million acres of the American West. The Turkey Vulture is part of nature’s clean up crew. It is a large scavenger bird that consumes roadkill and other carcasses controlling pests and diseases.

What would our world look like without the help of these animals and how would we be impacted? If they were to migrate elsewhere, due to displacement surrounding environmental disturbances, what could that mean for our landscape, our economy, our health?

After getting information for a new class for ACM called “Civic Dialogue, Democracy and the Arts” we chose what information would be more important than others. Using the name of the class, descriptions of the class and who we will be working with and who is in charge of the class. Since the class will be dealing with students from Rutgers and Warsaw University in Poland, I used the American flag colors and symbols as well as the eagle from Poland. Each blending and working off each other creates an easy poster to understand.

When choosing a word from a list of nine words, I chose the word Chaos. After choosing the word I researched three books with Chaos in the title of each book and came across Kitten Wars Kitten Chaos, Patterns in the Chaos and Chaos and Night. After reading the synopsis of each story, I created the book covers for each book incorporating photography and illustrations.

During the summer internship, the start to a huge project for the ABC’s book began. When coming near to the end each person chose a letter and that letter would be the jacket of the book. For mine, I chose “W” because it has always been one of my favorite letters and after using black and silver to create the jacket, we added a touch of red.

Given the project brief, we had to pick either a song lyric, line from a movie or a poem and create what we envisioned. I chose a song called “The Haunted” by Memphis May Fire and created an accordion book. After making it into an accordion book I recreated it in after effects and included photography and illustrations plus the song itself to bring it to life.

Thinking of a website I’m most interested in wether it’s movies, video games or an object. I narrowed it down to either Star Wars or a guitar but since so much has already been made of Star Wars I chose the guitar. My intensions of the website was to find everything you’re looking for from the model of the guitar to the strings you want to the stores you can buy them from. In the site, there is a dual screen where you can learn about the guitar to even playing it and you can pick either the electric or an acoustic. Whether you want to experience both together or one side at a time, you’re able to navigate the way you want and how you wish to experience it.

Designing a GIF for AIGA’s Design for Democracy and I chose the equality of bathrooms. To most people they’re just bathrooms but to many others they can be a place of safety on comfort. The privilege we have and most do not, I created this to vote for equality so we can all be happy and together as one.

Being obsessed with the German mark I redesigned the mark and incorporating what I love - comic books. Each bill corresponds to the different stories told in Germany: The Werewolf, The Pied Piper and The Siren.

Choosing a campaign that personal events occurred, the suicide awareness campaign was the one to pick. In each poster it represents what each person may feel and show to the people around them. Even though they are smiling they are not always the happiest and fullest person they should be. They deal with much more than we can see and with these posters it is meant to help people they know or aware of the signs. The color palette are the colors of suicide prevention and only stayed with those three colors.

Creating photographic quality illustrations of animals, I imported geometric shapes that use the colors of the animals. Realizing the animals I was using are close to being extinct I decided to transform them into Wildlife Foundation posters. Each poster has the title “PROTECT ME” with a fact about how many of that animal is left in the world.

Brainstorming ideas for a word to use for my conference, I came to like the word Resplendent. Which means “attractive and impressive through being richly colorful or sumptuous.” Each poster speaks for itself with different colors and speakers for that day that best represent the topics.

Always using Firefox growing up I wanted to find the font that was being used for it. Fira Sans Condensed was the font was the one being used and each typographers had their own personal work that intrigued me more. This site shows off the characteristics of Fira Sans Condensed as well as the different weights and typographers. The site also uses the same colors as Firefox to keep the same theme.

This project is based off of personal experience I have endured that required two mediums. First, the interactive book is between two different people dealing with the same type of trauma in two different places. The book includes a tri fold with a sentence on the left side where one of the folds goes over the sentence to form a new one. Lastly, the video is of a website designed to help you learn about either your own traumas or help understand more about traumas in general.
